UN/DOCUMENTED, a new portrait series by San Antonio artist Andrei Renteria, opens March 22, 2026 at Hindes Fine
Art.
UNDOCUMENTED features a series of portrait paintings depicting immigrant day workers in San Antonio. Created through collaborative, consent-based sittings, the work centers the visibility, individuality, and dignity of its subjects. Through traditional oil portraiture, Renteria challenges narratives of erasure and invites viewers to confront the humanity that exists beyond legal classification.
By engaging directly with his subjects, Renteria positions portraiture as both artistic practice and social document. The exhibition calls attention to the labor, presence, and lived experiences of workers who often remain unseen in the public sphere.
Opening reception is March 22, 2026, from 6-8pm, at Hindes Fine Art, 615 W. Ashby
