A Partnership Built on Art
Janice Yow Hindes, an artist, gallery owner and teacher of 45 years, has built something rare in San Antonio. In partnership with Andrea Wollenzin, the gallery has entered a bold new chapter. Wollenzin, co-owner of Hindes Fine Art, is not only a painter herself but also has a thriving career in residential luxury real estate in the Alamo City.
Andrea's real estate expertise seamlessly connects her passion for beautiful homes and art, making her an invaluable addition to the gallery's vision. This partnership represents a celebration of the past, a commitment to the present, and a bold and bright leap into the future.
Janice Hindes
Hindes draws on her experience and association with some of the best artists nationwide to carefully vet the art accepted into HFA. The gallery carries the finest representational art, and the artists are guaranteed the best financial return because of the generous artist commission. It's a win-win.
Janice has taught me how to paint for over a decade, focusing on color, light and design. This has been a priceless gift. She has also taught me a thing or two about collecting great art. Now, I get to help patrons collect art and that brings me great joy.
Andrea Wollenzin
The gallery's setting at 615 W. Ashby is a huge attraction with a rich history. Built in 1915 by the Frost Bank family and attributed to architect Atlee B. Ayers, it sits high above Alta Vista, overlooking the San Antonio skyline. Previously the property served as a Montessori school for more than 20 years. In 2014, Hindes acquired the home and launched Hindes Fine Art Gallery & Atelier.
HFA is a testament to the necessity of art. As Hindes and Wollenzin embark on this partnership, they continue to reward artists, enrich patrons' lives, and educate the community about fine representational art.
