The focus of this workshop will be creating majestic skies that have proper perspective and luminous color.    Nathaniel will create a single painting in two days. He will divide his demonstration into four parts which will be executed first thing in the morning and first thing in the afternoon after lunch of each day, allowing the students to make that same progress on their own paintings.

Photos will be provided, but students may also bring their own. Please bring several photos so that Nathaniel can help you make a good selection.

MATERIAL LIST

1. 1 Canvas or panel (16″x 20″ or smaller)
2. Notebook or sketchpad for notes
3. Orderless Mineral spirits of your choice (I use Gamsol)
4. What ever brushes and palette knifes you like
(For clouds, I use a #10 flat brush, #6 Filbert Brush, #3 script liner, and a #6 fan brush)
5. Paper towels
6. Palette
7. Bring several reference photos to paint from, you can also use the ones that are provided 🙂
8. Oil paints (any brand works)

The colors I use is:
Titanium White
Cadnium Yellow Medium
Cadnium Red Medium
Yellow Ochre
Raw Umber
Ultramarine Blue
Quinacridone Magenta
