A native Florentine, as a child  Luca Martini learned the basics of drawing from his father. Fascinated by  the painting of Italian impressionists (‘i macchiaioli’) , he carried on in his study of  portrait and figure drawing, concentrating increasingly on outdoor landscape painting.

With many years of experience, first alone and subsequently with experienced outdoor artists, he finally found his own style made of spontaneous, decisive quick brush strokes.

Nevertheless, his works reveal a careful study of the subject as well as the scenes and the light. As a landscape painter, he reflects in his work the enthusiasm and emotions felt while painting outdoors.
